about the artist
With thick, virulent layers of oil, I entrance and astonish the beholder by drawing them into my emotional lanscape of paint. Subjects focus on facial expressions of fictitious characters, objects from dreams, musical portraiture of famous / infamous people, inventors, avatars, instigators, blues and soul musicians, punk legends and criminals. I encapsulate their sonic and ideological contributions to the subconscious with color and texture to generate an almost living, breathing representation of how their energy and personality have influenced myself creatively so that I may relate those experiences to the viewer. To use these icons as a catalyst for color and energy, applied to a new form.
infidel group
Infidel Group formed in 2006 with the goal of uniting Chicago's artists and public through liad bak exhibitions in comfortable alternative spaces. The group members work collaboratively to put on unique events that feature artwork and live music in a welcoming and positive atmosphere. Infidel Group strives for rooted community based events, partnering with both local and community focused international organizations to share the benefit of exposure. Modeled in the vein of art groups of the early 90's such as Dir Brucke, Infidel Group share an enthusiasm for engagement, professionalism and balance amongst contemporary artists.
